Livestock pangenomics: how to construct and exploit whole genome information

OBJECTIVE:
The school will train PhD students and young researchers in the construction, application, and interpretation of the pangenome, addressing livestock species with insights also on plants and humans. The school will provide theoretical knowledge and data analysis skills using bioinformatics tools.

MAIN PROGRAM:
The advanced training course is organized at the Gasparini Residence - Strada dell'Anselma,9 - Piacenza, from June 22 to July 27, 2024, for a total of 44 hours: 28 hours lectures and 16 hours practicals.

The course will be delivered in English.

The course focuses on the construction and use of the pangenome. The pangenome is the entire genetic make-up of a species, that is the core genome, shared by all members of a species, and accessory genomes possessed only by single populations or individuals. Studying the pangenome allows for the identification of sequences not included in current reference genomes which might have important implications for important characteristics of organisms. The summer school will focus on innovative analysises and will cover theoretical and applicative aspects, addressing livestock species with insights also on plants and humans.

HOW TO REGISTER:

Participants will be admitted in order of enrollment, within the limit of 30 participants. If the minimum number is not reached, the school will be cancelled and the fee refunded.

To register, it is necessary to complete the ON LINE FORM and finalize payment at the time of registration.
